Description of topic:
Life often pulls us in a hundred directions at once — work, family, responsibilities, expectations. It’s easy to lose our center and to feel stretched thin. The theme of this retreat is Living a Balanced Life. Set in the stillness of a monastery, where prayer and work order each day, this retreat invites men to step away from noise and distraction and rediscover a rhythm that creates a balanced life.
Through different teaching sessions and shared reflection, we’ll draw on the enduring wisdom of St. Benedict. Benedict’s Rule, written for monastic communities over 1,500 years ago, offers practical guidance for life that remains strikingly relevant today. In addition to the Rule, we will look together at the Benedictine vows of stability, obedience, and conversion of life in order to show that these practices help us find balance in our modern world.
The retreat itself is a chance to practice a way of life: to share in prayer, to eat together, to walk in silence, to rest deeply, and to hear God’s voice in the quiet. In these rhythms, we’ll discover how Benedictine spirituality helps us bring order, clarity, and peace into the ordinary days of our lives. Join us on this journey into the wisdom of Benedictine spirituality as we learn together what it means to live a truly balanced life.
