MengCheng Open Potluck!

As artists and makers who grew up in Memphis, Thandi Cai, Neena Wang, Yidan Zeng, and LiLi Nacht formed this collective to challenge the way our cultural histories have been gathered, disseminated, or made invisible.

MengCheng 梦城 “City of Dreams” is inspired by the Chinese phonetic name for Memphis, or mèng fēi sī. The MengCheng 梦城团 Collective is an invitation into intergenerational dialogue, communal healing, and empowerment by sharing the Chinese-American experience of living in the American South.

This summer, we will host a weekly series of potlucks as practice in collective creation, research gathering, and performance that will be documented as an ongoing installation piece during our Crosstown Residency.
