Mending by Hand
Four Week Series | Thursdays | Ages 16+
Sep 3rd - 24th | 6:30 - 8:30 PM | $150
Learn to extend the life of your favorite clothes and bags through intentional, creative mending!
In a world of fast fashion, mending is an act of rebellion. This class is for the person who has saved their favorite article of clothing that has torn, ripped, or gotten a hole and thought, one day, I’ll get that fixed because I love to wear this so much. Well, now you can learn to fix it yourself!
Over four weeks, we’ll explore visible mending techniques, including Sashiko-style stitching and other traditional hand-mending methods. You’ll learn how to repair your favorite bag, shirt, pants, or sweater. You’ll learn how to work with fabric patches, specialty threads, and hand-sewing tools to turn wear and tear into wearable fashion.
This is not a tailoring class - No alterations, just repair, reinforcement, and creative problem-solving. We'll supply needles, thread, fabric patches, and basic mending tools. Bring a garment or bag that needs love. If you can thread a needle and tie a knot, you're ready.
The four-week journey will culminate in a fully mended piece, repaired with skill, style, and the satisfaction of keeping something you love in rotation and out of the landfill.
Spots are limited, so be sure to sign up! 100% of your purchase helps us provide free supplies and support to thousands of teachers!
