Prepare to set sail with the Cardiff Chamber Orchestra as they embark on a far-reaching journey from the poetry of Goethe and the medieval Spanish court, all the way to the birthplace of musical Romanticism in Vienna.Mendelssohn’s captivating 'Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage' overture adventures courageously to the heart of the sea, while Schubert’s lesser-known Symphony No 6, the ‘Little C Major’, is a masterclass in classical elegance, lightness and beauty of melody. Sandwiched in between these two thrilling works are Ravel’s evocative 'Pavane for a Dead Princess' and a double serenade offering from Strauss and Elgar. Under the baton of music director Georgia Steel, CCO brings their all to a charming programme of both reflection and storytelling in the beautiful Eglwys Dewi Sant in Cardiff.
