The brilliant young pianist, Anton Pigott, aged 17, will be playing Mendelssohn’s 1st piano concerto in G minor. He will be accompanied by Divertimento and Haldon ensembles with colleagues and young talented players from the South West. It will be conducted by Andrew Gillett.Anton will play the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto in G Minor and the orchestra will also play Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and Mozart’s Symphony no 38.
Anton Pigott started the piano at the age of 3 with Jill Bird, a Suzuki teacher in Totnes. He was home educated until he was 11 and surrounded by music with professional violinists for parents and three brothers who all play piano and violin. He spent 2 years as a student of Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham and has represented the UK in the Dance World Cup winning a silver medal for his solo. During his second year at ballet school, Anton studied piano with Victor Lim and travelled to Manchester for his lessons. In April 2024 he was a national finalist in the Rotary Young musician 2024 competition. He was also awarded first place in the ISA Young Musician Competition middle category 2022. Anton has given recitals to various societies, and made his debut concerto performance playing the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Lyric Chamber Orchestra in 2024. Anton now attends Wells Cathedral School as a piano specialist. He studies with the head of the keyboard department, Professor John Byrne.
