Men Being Manly - Dear Abbeys Philanthropy Show 2023

What's that? The Dear Abbeys are bringing Boston's best all-male acapella groups right to you at Marsh Chapel on Friday, February 17th at this year's Men Being Manly Philanthropy Show?!?! At 7:30 PM??! For a good cause?!?! All proceeds will go towards supporting young girls achieve their dreams through "Strong Women Strong Girls"!??

The Dear Abbeys Philanthropy Concert celebrated its 11th Anniversary in 2022 and all proceeds went towards supporting survivors of sexual assault. In the past this show was branded as Men Being Manly'' in efforts to break the stigma that a bunch of dudes singing a cappella is not manly. We sought to topple the unhealthy narrative of what it traditionally means to be a man, aiming to show the BU community that gender norms can be both limiting and harmful. In recent years, this event has changed its focus to raise awareness and funds for women who need support, because real men should recognize the challenges women face day to day, whether that be an apparent lack of respect from men, increased risk of being a victim of sexual assault, or more specifically breast cancer/ovarian cancer, and so on. At this 10th Anniversary performance, the Dear Abbeys teamed up with BU’s 16,000 Strong, an organization committed to educating the community about topics such as sexual assault and empowering survivors of such. Last year, the Abbeys partnered with BU SARP to raise over $800 towards supporting survivors of sexual assault. This year the Abbeys are excited to announce their partnership with the organization "Strong Women Strong Girls"!
