Held on the third Thursday of each month, Memory Cafés provide a safe place for those experiencing memory loss and their care partners to socialize and have fun with others in similar situations. During these informal gatherings we’ll start with a familiar song and a “get to know you” question. Followed by a presentation or activity with a simple craft, game, or shared reading to spark memories and conversations. Then we’ll close the program with another short singalong.
In October we will make two Halloween decorations, a 3D pumpkin and a Puffy ghost; share family traditions and favorite costumes from the past; and singalong with five festive songs. Gluten-free, easy-to-swallow treats will be provided.
In November, we will reminisce about the Macy’s Day parades of years gone by, make a bright leaf turkey craft and decorate a gratitude tree with our favorite Thanksgiving memories.
At each Café there will be a table with free resources and giveaways, along with books to check out. Snacks, tea, and coffee will be served.
