About this Event
There are many health benefits to creating art, including decreasing stress and anxiety, lowering blood pressure, and developing healthy coping mechanisms. Master's level art therapy students will host an open art studio session for participants to engage with a variety of art materials for creative self-expression. No artistic talent is required, just a willingness to play and explore! Art therapy provides significant benefits for individuals with dementia and their caregivers, offering a non-verbal means of expression for people with memory loss to improve their mood, self-esteem, and communication skills. For caregivers, it can reduce stress and burnout, enhance their well-being, and foster a stronger connection with their loved ones by reducing perceived stress and improving social support.
