An evening with Edmundo Desnoes, Cuban author of one of the most challenging political films ever made.
About this Event

To kick-off our Third Cinema Series, we are proud to present the newly 4K restored 1968 film, Memorías del subdesarollo, by Cuban director Tomás Gutiérrez Alea. Joining us is prolific novelist and screenwriter Edmundo Desnoes, who not only wrote the film's screenplay, but also the novel which the film is based on.

Left behind by his wife and family in the aftermath of the Bay of Pigs, the bourgeois intellectual Sergio (Sergio Corrieri) passes his days wandering Havana and idly reflecting, his amorous entanglements and political ambivalence gradually giving way to a mounting sense of alienation.

With special video introduction by Miguel Coyula, director of the film's sequel, Memorías del desarollo.
