Memorial Day....to honor those who have served and us being eternally grateful for their everlasting memory to give us a day off today Location: Anheuser-Busch Sports Park (grassy area in outfields where Jesse has held a few of his tourneys before)
This is a BB level and up tourney, please use discretion when signing up
1030am check-in, balls up in the air by 11am
$15/person...cash OR venmo (Venmo: taggert-edgell)
90% payout to 1st & 2nd!
$5 will be going towards food which will be provided (standard cookout food)
Feel free to make a dish or bring some food items as well!
We will be grilling out on site
BLIND DRAW format: sign up as an individual, you will be placed with a team of 4 for the entirety of the day at random (I will split and set it up initially for fairness best I can to my knowledge, then randomly split up from there)
If there is a team that is short of 4 people, a (not top ranked) player will be drawn at random from another team to fill in for that team to play that game
For tourney...the team has the option to pick a (not top ranked) player from one of the losing teams to play with them for the remainder of the tourney, so long as the player agrees
Pool play, everyone breaks for tourney. TBD on doing an upper/lower bracket or all in one, depends on how many teams sign up
These will be doubles lines, not full court (deal with it Kyle Higgins)
-*grass rules* everything is sand rules, with the exception that you MAY receive the ball with your hands at any point
-Set Overs:
>Squareness - The ball must be set in a straight line relative to the player's shoulders, either straight forward or straight backward, to be an intentional legal set-over. It also must come out quite cleanly
>Intent - If a player is attempting to set their partner (determined by the referee) and the ball goes over, it is legal.
-Setting: PLEASE CALL YOUR DOUBLES (BB'ish hands). This isn't hard, either team can call it out and debate this to determine if it was or wasn't a double. If neither team can come up with an agreed upon determination, do the point over.
-Footwear: barefoot is fine, shoes are fine, turf shoes are also okay (do NOT wear basketball shoes or shoes that are completely flat on the bottom. You will 10000% slip. I recommend something like hiking shoes or even golf shoes). NO CLEATS OR METAL TIPPED SHOES ALLOWED.
