About Watsonville Slough Farm

The Land Trust acquired 500-acre Watsonville Slough Farm in 2010 with support of ten partner organizations and funding from the State Coastal Conservancy, Wildlife Conservation Board, and in large part to our members, like YOU!

Half of the acreage is leased to organic farmers and the other half is in wetland restoration. Our farm partners employ approximately 100 people and harvest several million dollars of organic berries and vegetables annually.

With this property, the Land Trust hopes to build awareness about the unique farmland of Santa Cruz County, the economic and environmental sustainability of these lands, and the importance of conserving them. This project will create outdoor access for an under-resourced community lacking nearby open space, and provide healthy produce and a gathering space at no cost to visitors. The Slough Farm is adjacent to the City of Watsonville and within short walking distance for a significant number of its residents.
