FTC invites our valued members to an exclusive Members Only event to celebrate and thank them for their continued support over the years. An Evening with Tony Visconti is a talkback covering Visconti’s 50+ year long career. Tony Visconti is a 3x Grammy winning legendary producer whose credits include T. Rex, Thin Lizzy, Manic Street Preachers, and most notably, David Bowie. The evening will consist of a pre-show cocktail hour, a conversation with Visconti moderation by Dave Schneider (The Zamboni’s) discussing Visconti’s career, relationships with industry legends such as Bowie and Marc Bolan, industry stories, track analysis, and a pre-screened Q&A. The program will run roughly 75-90 minutes.
This event offers an exclusive experience to those who intentionally support FTC. Visconti has been a leader in record production for generations, making himself a pillar in music history. In regards to Visconti’s career with David Bowie; Tony’s openness and commitment to keeping David’s memory alive has provided a platform for his music and stories to live on. Providing this experience to our members showcases not only the ‘thank you’ to our members but also aligns with FTCs commitment to community and honoring those who came before us.
Tony Visconti
One of the most celebrated pop/rock music producers in history started his musical legacy in Brooklyn, NY as a bass player and arranger. A chance meeting with UK music producer Denny Cordell at a water cooler in Phil Ramone’s A&R Studios in New York City changed Tony’s entire life. While explaining chord charts to Denny and how they could guide the session players and expedite the process, Denny would end up asking the twenty-something-year-old Visconti to move to London and work for him. The rest is a story from the ages.
While in London, he met David Bowie and Marc Bolan within weeks as two up and coming, unheard-of musicians and went on to guide their careers to absolute mega superstardom. In the UK, Marc Bolan was an enormous star, showman and songwriter. David Bowie was a superfan who saw what Tony was doing with Marc and wanted to work with Tony. A 44-year friendship and 14 Bowie albums later, including the last four of his life, was evidence of a once-in-a-lifetime musical association that would catapult David to superstardom and Visconti to the most sought-after producer of the 70s and 80s.
Since Bowie released his eponymous album, David Bowie, produced by Tony Visconti in 1969, the New York-based music producer has always been a vital part of the most decisive moments in Bowie’s career. Visconti also provided musical direction for T. Rex’s recordings as well as albums by U2, Paul McCartney and Wings, Gentle Giant, Sparks, the Moody Blues, Thin Lizzy, Morrissey, Angelique Kidjo, Dandy Warhols, Boomtown Rats, and many others.
Visconti, a 3x Grammy winning music producer, arranger, songwriter, musician, and author (“Bowie, Bolan, and the Brooklyn Boy”), lives in New York City. In 2025, he produced the new album, Visible From Space, by Paul Muldoon and Rogue Oliphant, the musical supergroup which includes Pulitzer-prize and T. S. Elliot prize-winning Irish poet Paul Muldoon, bassist Cait O’Riordan (Pogues, Elvis Costello) and guitarist/songwriter/author Dan Zanes (The Del Fuegos).
Additional recent productions include music by Paul Simonon (Clash) and Galen Ayers entitled Can We Do Tomorrow Another Day?; The Good, the Bad & the Queen (feat. singer Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz, bassist Paul Simonon of the Clash, guitarist Simon Tong of the Verve, and drummer Tony Allen) entitled Merrie Land; Perry Farrell’s Kind Heaven; The Damned Evil Spirits; and Esperanza Spalding’s Emily’s D+Evolution. Earlier, he arranged and conducted strings for Foo Fighters on their song, “I Am a River,” from the Sonic Highways album.
