Mark your calendar!!! On June 20 Grand Valley Anglers will be honoring our volunteers with a picnic dinner and drawing. GVA will be acknowledging the service hours and accomplishments achieved this school year for students of the Grand Valley. All made possible through collective efforts between Grand Valley Anglers, School District 51, youth education sponsors and most importantly our volunteers.
Since May of 2023 we have logged over 1000 hours of volunteer time for youth education. GVA has hosted four casting days serving over 525 students, offered five fishing days serving 155 students and set-up booths for five conservation events. We supported five schools with Trout in the Classroom, releasing over 460 fish this spring. The Grand Valley Angler Chapter of Trout Unlimited and its sponsors have invested over $10,000 dollars since last spring to get the program up and running. GVA Youth Education was honored at the Colorado Trout Unlimited Rendezvous as the top TU chapter in the state for our work with kids in the valley.
We are inviting anyone interested to join our members and our volunteers for this celebration of great accomplishment. We are working hard to grow our volunteer base so that we can offer more opportunities for our youth next year and beyond. So, bring a friend with you to see if they might be interested. If you do bring a friend you will get entered into a separate drawing for a $25.00 Western Angler gift certificate.
