Part of the GEF Safari Series of races, licensed by Scottish Athletics, the 1 mile, along with the two other race days, gives runners the chance to compete over 3 different distances whilst also receiving a unique Kenyan safari animal medal at each event.Mel's Union Street Mile sponsored by Burness Paull, Saturday 31st August @ Union Street, Aberdeen in association with Celebrate Aberdeen.
New route for 2024 only will start on Union Street at Holburn Junction, turn left along Union Terrace, right past HMT, down and up Schoolhill, right past Marischal College and finish on Broad Street.
Races start from 10.30am with Primary P3-7, followed by the Secondary S1-6s at 10.40am and finally the Adults race taking place at 10.50am. Due to the tight time available due to road closures and the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade starting at 11am, entrants must be able to complete 1 mile in under 12 minutes. Also due to the tight schedule we are unfortunately not able to offer races on the day for children P2 and below.
Entries close on 9th August - please note this is a strict closing date and there will be no extension available for entries.
