About this Event

What if the highest purpose of music isn't about entertaining, distracting, or numbing us? What if music is meant to be more than just background noise or for creating a certain ambience or vibe? What if musicians were never meant to be on pedestals or stages?

What if music has always been communal medicine, an elixir of song flowing in, through, around, and from us? What if music is a sacred, ancient language that all beings speak, a language that has the potential to witness, to alchemize, to heal? What if those we call musicians are actually just here to remind us that we are ALL artists and we ALL carry the creative spark within us?

And what if we remember that music has never belonged to any one artist, celebrity, genre, religion, race, region.…or even just to humans? The Land itself sings constantly whether or not we recognize her music. Songbirds warbling at dawn. Crickets chattering at dusk. Leaves whispering in the wind. Whales crooning in the sea. Creeks babbling over the stones. Wolves howling at the moon. Babies cooing with delight.

Music lives and flows from all beings. And music can be a healing companion to help us remember who we are and carry us back home to ourselves.

About the event:

Melodic Elixir is an intentionally-crafted musical experience, a journey through song back to the center of ourselves and to the center of our place in the great web of life. This is not a show. It's a musical voyage. Ivy is not a performer. She's a mystical musical guide.

Throughout this 90-minute melodic adventure, you will be led by Ivy's voice, instruments, and songs to soften and exhale into curious and compassionate exploration of what's inside when all the outer noise and hustle (and there's so much these days!) begins to dim. Through the tonic of tunes and tales, you will be invited to drop into deeper awareness of and connection with your inner voice and knowing. You will be invited to remember the forgotten wisdom of the Land and previous generations.

Melodic Elixir is the culmination of Ivy's (almost) two decades as a psychotherapist, her lifelong love and passion for music, her profound respect for Mother Nature and Indigenous wisdom (and all she has learned from Native teachers, mentors, and friends), and her decade-long journey of reconnection and repair in regards to her own Celtic and Nordic ancestral roots.

This is not therapy. This is not a concert. It's designed to be a unique, care-filled, illuminating experience created by an artist who happens to also be a therapist. So she’s especially adept at knowing how to navigate the inner world and the liminal spaces--both of her own soul and of others.

In a world that sometimes feels more disorienting, unjust, uncertain, and frightening each day, it is more important than ever to know how to come back to our center, to the rooted radiance inside each one of us.

Come join us for a little afternoon break to have your cup filled by Melodic Elixir. We hope you leave reinvigorated and inspired, with renewed compassion, grit, and a sense of purpose and place in the great web of life.

Suggested donation is $25. If you are able to pay more, your generous contribution helps to give others access to this event. And if you need to pay less, please do and know that we absolutely understand. The bottom line: We don't want cost to keep anyone from this enriching musical experience!

Of note: Due to the intentional nature of this event to encourage pause and self-reflection, the event is currently most appropriate for those who are aged 16 and over.

About the artist / host:

Ivy Eld’s music dances in the land of paradox. Her voice is simultaneously angelic and rawly human, fiery and red-wine smooth. Her evocative and tender songwriting invites listeners to dive in quickly and deeply, piercing weary hearts and enshrouding them with the fierce love and witnessing they desire and deserve. Her vulnerable, heartfelt lyrics soar through the air on the wings of her transcendent, soulful voice.

A psychotherapist for almost two decades, Ivy has been privy to the sacred inner worlds of thousands of souls (while traversing her own inner hallways, dark attics, and sun-lit living rooms). This rich interpersonal and intrapersonal experience and her curiosity about the internal landscape saturates her songs.

Ivy has been deeply intertwined with music since she was a child. Singing. Songwriting. Many years playing piano, French horn, guitar. But her creative passion was all but abandoned by her caregiving / helping roles as a mama, a therapist, and an overall justice-seeking, big-hearted, people-loving advocate.

Through a great deal of determination, persistence, and being willing to face her inner shadows, insecurities, and profound grief (including navigating childhood trauma and the death of her little brother, also a lifelong musician) she circled back later in life to her musical roots and began writing and performing again. And at age 45, she returned to a lifelong dream of sharing her songs with the world and put out her first album.

Ivy is passionate about sharing music through the lens of healing, transformation, and remembering (coming back to ourselves and our deep interconnection with the Land and with each other). Her artist moniker is a part of her remembering, her reconnecting to her own ancestry (“Ivy” based on her Scandinavian great grandmother’s name, “Eld” being the Swedish word for “fire”). She longs for her music to be an oasis of healing and beauty, a call to deeper respect and compassion for ourselves and for humanity. Ivy considers her music to be another facet of how she shows up in the world in authentic and passionate service— as a singer-songwriter, a therapist, a mom, a partner, an advocate, a friend, a human. She hopes her thoughtful, earthy, poetic songs will inspire others to look inside – light, shadows, and all – and come home to their deeply worthy selves.

You can listen / watch some of Ivy's music videos below. And you can check out more of her music at www.ivyeld.com and all streaming platforms. (See "organizer profile" for more links to social media pages.)
