About this Event
Designed by Robert Adam and completed in 1778, Mellerstain House sits on an estate in the heart of Scotland's rolling border country. The formal gardens surrounding the house were designed in 1910 and are dotted with ancient trees. Roe deer are often glimpsed in the gardens as are badgers, stoats and foxes. In summer swallows, bramblings and pied flycatchers make the estate their home. This is our first visit to and we will be helping control rhododendron or possibly removing tree tubes.
On this, our first visit to this new site we will be removing invasive rhododendron or tubes from mature trees that no longer need the protection of the tube.
We encourage volunteers to use our minibus for transport. If you live near this task and wish to make your own way you must ring Debbie on 01313370223 to book a space and for joining instructions.
P lease bring your lunch and wear appropriate footwear (boots or wellingtons) and waterproof outdoor clothing.
