(english below)

Moderator:
Sted: Johan Borups Højskole, Frederiksholms Kanal 24, 1220 Kbh. K
Eventet vil foregå på engelsk.

English version:
Between hopelessness and action – voices from Palestine and Israel.
Amnesty International Denmark and DanChurchAid, in collaboration with Johan Borup's Folk High School, invite you to a conversation about how we can find paths to change and hope.
The humanitarian and political crisis in Palestine and Israel is evolving daily. In Gaza, 2 million people are living under blockade, systematic bombardment, and starvation - conditions that several UN experts and human rights organizations describe as a genocide. The loss of civilian lives - especially among children and women - is unprecedented in recent history.
Palestinians and people around the world are coming together in support of a ceasefire and against the occupation, while in Israel, people are taking to the streets to protest the government's ongoing military offensive and to demand the release of the hostages.
Together with some of the most prominent Palestinian and Israeli voices, we will get an update on the current situation on the ground in Israel and Palestine – and have a conversation about how to find paths to change and hope.
Among other things, we will discuss:
• How is the situation on the ground – in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel – experienced right now?
• What drives experts, human rights activists, and civil society actors to continue the fight for justice and freedom?
• What role can the international community, protest movements, college students, and ordinary citizens play at a time when hopelessness threatens to paralyze action?
The speakers are:
• George Zeidan – Director of the Carter Center Israel & Palestine and Palestinian expert on human rights and political dynamics in the region. He works with documenting violations and supporting democratic participation.
• Muhammed Shehada (TBC) – Palestinian political analyst and author from Gaza, now living in Denmark. Shehada is one of the most prominent voices from Gaza in international media and has written about the blockade, war crimes, and the consequences for the people of Gaza.
• Yehuda Shaul – Director of the Israeli think tank Ofek and co-founder of the veterans' organization Breaking the Silence. A prominent voice who has been sparking debate in Israeli and international media for over two decades. Yehuda also meets regularly at the highest political levels, especially in Europe.
• Mairav Zonszein – Israeli-American journalist and analyst at the International Crisis Group with over ten years of experience covering Israeli politics and US foreign policy. She is known for her sharp analyses and columns in the New York Times.
Nagieb Khaja – Award-winning journalist, documentary filmmaker, and author with over 20 years of in-depth experience reporting from conflict zones such as Afghanistan, Syria, and Israel-Palestine.
Time: September 25, 5:00–6:30 p.m. (doors open at 4:30 p.m.)
