Meisner Acting at Raindance explores the famous and highly popular no-nonsense approach to acting.

Do you want to achieve a more authentic and engaging performance for camera?

Meisner’s exercises are a must for people who are serious about the skill of acting. From Tom Cruise to Amy Schumer to Karl Urban (The Boys) and many other Hollywood names are all students of the Meisner method of acting.

Whether you want jump straight in as a beginner or keep honing your craft, this practical course will lead you through the foundations of the technique. You will see a noticeable difference in your own performance and learn to demystify the processes that make great performance.

Ensuring you benefit from practical exercises in this course you will be lead you through the foundation of the technique with a certified (TAI) Meisner instructor.

In this 5-evening workshop, you will be guided and encouraged in a fun and non-judgmental environment that will give you space to fail and take risks with likeminded artists. You will practice and be given practical and individual feedback.

Workshop Objectives

Upon completion of the workshop, you will have acquired the practical experience to engage in an authentic and real performance, that brings your own original personality to the screen.

What you will learn

Over the weeklong course you will engage in the repetition exercise and then move onto the ‘knock on the door’ exercise that will allow you to start to embody both physically and psychologically and emotionally the actors objective.

Those with no previous acting experience but interested in the training are very welcome. Actors who feel out of practice and want to re-hone their skills. Anyone seeking a systematic approach to acting. Actors looking to unlock their emotional potential and conquer self-consciousness.

About your instructor

Myles Horgan is a London based independent filmmaker, writer, actor and educator. He holds an MA in Actor Training and Coaching (RCSSD) a Dip in Theatre Practice (TCD) and is a Certified Teacher in the Sanford Meisner Technique (TAI). He is also a member of MICHA and the M.C (UK) Collective. He has over 20 years’ experience in theatre film and television some highlights include in playing the charter Rory in Palm d’Or winner Ken loach’s’’ The wind that shakes the barley’. Best animated script winner in the Galway film festival with ‘Paddy’. Regular appearances for (2 years) as character Micky in Irish T.V Soap opera ‘Fair City’.
