Aiming to bridge the chasm between classical and improvised music, Award-Winning Pianist Mei Lin Hii presents a riveting performance of passion-driven South American composers.

Mei Lin finds association with one such name - Astor Piazzolla. His reputation of being Argentina's greatest cultural export draws parallels with the Duke Ellingtons and Gershwins of American jazz. The Tango in Piazzolla’s hands, was elevated from its position in folk dance, into the concert hall thanks to cutting-edge harmony and rhythms featured in Piazzolla's unique vocabulary. This has had a significant influence and following in the jazz and classical contexts til' this day.

This is contrasted with Brazilian composer Egbert Gismonti and Cuban pianist/composer Ernesto Lecuona - both important cultural figures in the same right as Piazolla. Their music personalities bring a primitive, soulful, yet sophisticated and diverse set of pictures from their homelands.
