We will meet a very significant Calgarian. “Willie” McKnight who is the most outstanding Canadian in the first half of the Second World War. His short, outstanding career is the stuff of clickbait. He was also an important member of his family – and he lived right here in Calgary. Meet the young man who McKnight Boulevard is named for, learn about his national and international status, and hear behind the scenes stories from his family and friends. This presentation is created with exclusive letters, documents and photographs from the McKnight Family Archive. And was he really called Willie? You will be a McKnight insider by the end of this presentation. This program by historian Shelly McElroy is FREE, and held at the Chestermere Whitecappers Centre following the regular CHF meeting 1-2pm.
