We're kicking off this Pint of Origin with a visit from a true veteran of the NZ beer industry. Tracy Banner has been making beer for over four decades and has been dubbed the 'Mother of NZ Brewing'. Her career began in England, with brewing giants Greenalls and Bass, and upon her move to New Zealand in 1994 she played a pivotal role in the craft beer revolution that has since swept the country, including being the first woman at the helm of iconic Dunedin brewery, Speight's. As of 2019 Tracy was awarded an Honorary Fellowship to the Brewers Guild of New Zealand, the Guild's highest honour. Today Tracy is the owner and master brewer of Sprig and Fern Brewing Co, an award-winning brewery in the Tasman district (South Island).
Tracy will be joining us fresh from judging the AIBAs, and we're hosting a mini tap takeover of Sprig and Fern beers in her honour - some never before seen in the country!
