Meet the Author - Robin Lustig
About this Event
And the Cello Came Too is a personal memoir and a poignant, evocative family chronicle by the award-winning journalist and broadcaster, spanning centuries of Jewish life in Europe, its near-destruction under the Nazis and its slow rebirth in the years after the Second World War.
Ticket price includes a glass of wine or soft drink, and the talk will be followed by a book signing.
This is a history of persecution but also of resilience and continuity - of lives rebuilt, music played, and stories reclaimed. Moving, intimate, and meticulously researched, it shows how one family's journey can illuminate the universal struggle to survive, remember, and belong - and just so happens to include an insider's account of one of the most intriguing intelligence operations of the Second World War.
At its heart is Lustig’s father, Fritz, a refugee from Berlin whose cello accompanied him through upheaval, war and a new life in Britain.
