You Lied to Me About God: Live Reading and Launch EventJoin author and world-renowned trauma therapist Dr. Jamie Marich for this special, in-person event to celebrate the launch of her newest book, You Lied to Me About God: A Memoir. This is the most personal book in Jamie’s collection so far, as she shares stories of her personal experiences with spiritual abuse and recovery. Having grown up as a queer person with two religious parents–one Evangelical and one Catholic–she also later found herself in a yoga ashram. Although the practices of yoga were critical to her overall recovery, she experienced many of the same power and control patterns in that setting.
In this special event, Jamie will give a short talk about the importance of recognizing spiritual abuse and religious trauma in a modern America where threats of Christian Nationalist domination are ever-present. She will personally read passages from the book, lead us in an expressive arts practice, and of course be open to audience Q & A and discussion.
Please come with an open mind and heart for an evening of networking and heart-felt exchange. Jamie will also have signed copies of the book available for purchase.
