Meet Reset! Berlin: Reclaiming Europe's Digital Commons
About this Event
Who controls the digital world we live in and how can we take back control?
Join Are We Europe, Urbane Praxis and Gatekeeper Radio in Berlin for a day of conversations, creative experimentation and collective action exploring the future of digital independence.
From the platforms we use to communicate to the technologies shaping our cities, workplaces and democracies, digital systems increasingly influence how we live, work, create and connect. Yet much of our digital lives depends on a handful of powerful technology companies. What would it take to build a digital future that is more democratic, open and collectively owned?
Meet Reset! Berlin edition is all about Digital Independence: Reclaiming Europe's Digital Commons and brings together journalists, artists, cultural practitioners, activists, technologists, community organisers and curious citizens to explore alternatives to platform dependency and imagine what digital independence could look like in practice.
Through participatory workshops, public discussions, live radio and opportunities to exchange ideas with people working at the intersection of culture, technology and democracy, we'll explore questions such as:
- Who owns our digital infrastructure? Exploring the power structures behind the platforms and technologies we rely on.
- How can we build digital commons? Discovering open-source tools, community-led initiatives and public-interest alternatives.
- What does digital independence mean for culture and media? Exploring how independent journalists, artists and cultural spaces can reach audiences and sustain their work beyond dominant platforms.
- How can technology serve democracy? Imagining digital systems that strengthen civic participation, protect our rights and put communities first.
The day will feature a live radio programme by Gatekeeper Radio, participatory workshops, conversations with practitioners, and a collective exploration of how we can create a more independent digital future together.
The day will end with live music and DJ's next door at Panke Culture until late. 🕺🏻
