About Meet My Craftsman
The rites and rituals that accompany one’s last journey are often elaborate and require a great deal of care. Meet the craftsmen who have dedicated their lives to the preparation of items used in our funerals; down to the last detail.
About the Host
Meet Andy Yeo, an effigy restorer who began his journey when a pair of effigies in his temple was discovered to be damaged by termites. Since then, he has restored century-old door gods, effigies, temple doors, gold furnaces, incense burners, sedan chairs for the deities as well as mural arts in various temples. In his quest to restore these artefacts to their original dignified state, Andy has gone to Taiwan to pick up the craft of Lacquer Threading. Today, he seeks to spread knowledge about this practice to a new generation of appreciative audience, as well as innovate by using these traditional skills in modern art forms.
