Take a trip from the swamps of Jersey, down Highway 9, to the promised land in the heart of E Street. Join our series exploring the world of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, through 50 years of albums, concerts and rarities from up and down the Shore. Tonight we revisit Born in the USA.
Host Dan Gosch will focus on the biggest selling record of Bruce Springsteen’s career, and one of the best-selling records of all time by any artist: Born in the USA. We’ll start with a brief run through a very select few of the many songs that didn’t make it onto the original album, but which surfaced on later releases, including Tracks, and Essential. Included in this mix is one song that Bruce has performed live only three times, and a special trip back to November 19, 1984, right here in Kansas City, for a ride in the elusive Pink Cadillac.
From here, it’s on to the album itself. Our show will focus on stand out live performances of the songs on the albums. We’ll start with the original tour in 1984-1985, make stops in New York in 2000 and Paris in 2012, and feature some tracks from Bruce’s last stop in Kansas City, in February of 2023. Were you there?
