Meet Me @HistoryLink:
Gathering Community Stories

The third event in our Meet Me @HistoryLink series will be an opportunity to take away best practice tips and tools on how to interview a family member or someone in your community, using HistoryLink’s People’s Histories collection to discuss the importance of community stories. Oh, and there will be snacks!
About Meet Me @HistoryLink
For eight years now, HistoryLink has enjoyed the incredible views and vibes of Pike Place Market from our office space at the corner of 1st and Pike. Meet Me @HistoryLink is a new series of intimate programs we are hosting in our office this year that celebrate every corner of Washington history. Our goals are simple - meet new people and have a little fun!

About Our Hosts

Jill Freidberg serves as Digital Media Editor for HistoryLink – When she isn't illustrating HistoryLink stories with archival treasures, Jill co-directs the Seattle Black Spatial Histories Institute and runs the Shelf Life Community Story Project. She loves learning the histories of everyday people who never made the news and discovering the images they left behind.

Casey McNerthney has been writing for HistoryLink since 2012. He previously worked as a reporter for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and as an executive producer at KIRO TV, the CBS affiliate in Seattle, where he earned three Emmy awards. He is the co-author of four books including Seattle at 150, the sesquicentennial look at the city’s history. His day job is Director of Communications at the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Jennie Cecil Moore creates content for public media and non-profit organizations including podcasts, radio, and print. She is particularly interested in language and culture, food and history, music and the environment. Jennie has worked on writer and artist podcasts, oral history projects, and audio guides. More recently, she’s covered housing policy, voting rights, local arts, and healthcare in Washington. Jennie is a HistoryLink contributor.

About HistoryLink's People's Histories

HistoryLink.org is the first and largest encyclopedia of local and state history created expressly for the Internet. Since 1999, HistoryLink has brought together hundreds of writers from across the state to build a body of work that now exceeds over 8,500 articles.

While most of that collection consist of written articles, we also have a section of the site devoted to what we call our People’s Histories, taking inspiration from Howard Zinn’s landmark book People’s History of the United States.

People’s Histories are first-person accounts – memoirs and snippets of life that ensure our digital archive reflects the actual diversity of human experience in Washington.
