Join Midtown Reader for our Meet and Greet Happy Hour! Stop by to grab a drink from the Piebrary and meet authors Michael Walsh, Sarah Karowski, and K.D. Thomas!About Beyond the Rift:
Discovering Project Vortex came at a price. Now Kano and the rest of the team are the most wanted fugitives in the galaxy.
With their enemies closing in, they have no choice but to travel the deadliest space in the galaxy: the Rift. But finding the Rift is impossible. To enter it is suicide. And to cross it may open more doors than any of them could imagine. Join Kano, Junior, Li, Makoto, Carmichael, and the rest of the team in the penultimate installment of the Zoboros Series, where the challenges ahead will test more than just their powers. It will test the very fabric of their team.
About Michael Walsh:
Nothing is more exciting to Michael Walsh than being transported to another world (especially with a John Williams soundtrack playing in the background). Memorable characters, high stakes, and larger than life situations are the things he craves in a story, and the things he hopes to achieve in his own writing. When someone reads a story of Michael's and says "I felt like I was watching a movie", he knows he did something right. Currently, Michael has the first two books in his superhero/space-opera series, The Zoboros Series, out now (with a third on the way)! It's about a superhero on a far-off world who gets sucked into the plans of a mysterious villain.
About American Folktale:
Sarah Karowski's debut poetry chapbook, Americana Folktale, is a body of poems that hits on a visceral level and transports readers to a word they can roam freely and still share the emotions the writer wants to convey. From the first poem to the last, there is this countryside world of the poet's youth and life experiences portrayed by great poems full of colorful stories that stay with you long after you finish reading. From 4th of July celebrations to playing in creeks, to coming of age and remembering lessons from father like taking the car in for an oil change, the reader is immersed in the immediacy of each poem, watching the author grow up in a world meticulously painted poem by poem.
About Sarah Karowski:
Sarah Karowski (she/her) grew up in Dallas, Texas. he received her Bachelor's in Creative Writing from the University of North Texas and worked as a dog trainer for years before she received her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the Mississippi University for Women. About The Rise of Syn:
ACTING AS GATEKEEPERS, the gods maintained balance of the three realms. But darkness drifted into the light realm, and the light began to break. A galactic planet named Eden exploded. Its fragments were flung far, and over time, the rocks of Eden created what would be known as the solar system. The surviving Edenians made Eden’s most central fragment their new home, and they named this planet Earth...
In 2224, humans lived openly with the fae, a humanoid species. Opposing integration, rebels had spread like wildfire throughout the Southeast of the United States. While Tallahassee, Florida was entering a state of mayhem, supporters of coexistence fought against the rebellion. And one supporter named Wren Sparrow, a Hispanic woman whose very birth drew the fae out of hiding to begin with, found herself mutating into something dark—something sinful. And only a misfit of aliens can save her.
About K.D. Thomas:
K.D. Thomas was raised in Tallahassee, Florida, and most of her stories are set in or around that area. Drawn to the mysteries of the universe, she seeks to unravel the meaning of existence. But being kept in darkness, the human mind can handle so much. Other than writing, she is obsessed with learning and rescuing animals. Two of her dreams: to obtain a Ph.D. in Physics and have ethics become an international trend.
