About This Session
Effective pain management is essential to patient care, yet it can be complex and nuanced in clinical practice. This session is designed to strengthen your understanding of how pain is processed and how to apply that knowledge to create thoughtful, balanced analgesic plans.
Dr. Julie Smith, DVM, DACVAA and Justin Goodrich, LVT, will begin with a review of pain pathways to build a strong foundation, then move into multimodal analgesia—focusing on how to strategically combine agents to achieve optimal pain control while minimizing unwanted side effects. The session will also highlight the important role of local anesthetic blocks as a powerful and often underutilized tool in pain management.
Through case-based discussions and open Q&A, participants will explore real-world scenarios and gain practical insights that can be immediately applied in the clinic.
