As the last golden days of summer begin to cool and Cape Town eases into autumn, we’re casting our nets for something a little different… and a lot more delicious.Join us at the effortlessly chic Florentin Restaurant for a Paint & Sip experience led by Gabby Van den Berg, featuring her striking new artwork, “Sardine Run.” Following her iconic food-inspired series, from juicy tomatoes to fiery chillis, Gabby now turns her brush to the ocean - creating a piece that celebrates both her Greek heritage and a proudly South African natural phenomenon.
“Sardine Run” is an ode to the annual winter spectacle along South Africa’s coastline, where massive shoals of sardines migrate up the Wild Coast into KwaZulu-Natal. Often called the “greatest shoal on earth,” this extraordinary event draws sharks, dolphins, whales, and seabirds into a dramatic, near-shore feeding frenzy - a breathtaking display of movement, energy, and life.
You’ll be guided step by step by Gabby herself, making this experience perfect for beginners and seasoned creatives alike. Settle into Florentin’s cozy, stylish space, where you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing mimosa before diving into your painting. As your canvas fills with colour and rhythm, enjoy a selection of their signature brunch dishes: the perfect pairing to an afternoon of creativity and connection.
