MEDIEVAL STEEL Epic Metal warriors Medieval Steel have endured the test of time and the melodic heavy metal sound they created has become legendary all over the globe. The band was formed in Memphis, TN in the early 1980’s with some of the best musicians from across the region. In 1984, the band released a 4-song EP simply titled “Medieval Steel”. This helped propel their music all over the world and introduced them to a loyal fan base that follows them to this very day. After the release of this EP, the band quickly grabbed the attention of record label executives, but no agreements could be reached. As a result, no new material was released for some time and the band underwent a few changes in its lineup. The strong lyric and powerful vocal presence of the band’s lead singer, Bobby Franklin, remained a constant and Medieval Steel quickly rose again to even greater status in the local music scene than it had ever experienced before. The new material, while staying true to the vision of what Medieval Steel stood for, had a rawness and energy that made their live performances truly legendary. Demo tapes of new material were recorded (though never officially released by the band), and bootleg copies have been traded by loyal fans for many years since. The original vinyl EP is a collector’s item today. In response to an outcry for a re-emergence of the band, the group came together again and picked up where they left off by recording “The Dungeon Tapes” in 2005. It consists of several new recordings of never-before released music, as well as a digital re-mastering of the original Medieval Steel EP. In 2014 Dark Castle was released. While the band has kept distribution of these primarily under their own control, the news of a new Medieval Steel recording quickly spread, and copies have now been sold in over 26 different countries across the world. Currently, the band has reissued The Dungeon Tapes through Skol Records out of Poland and Lost Realm out of Portugal. Early 2022, the band released Gods of Steel with all new material. The band is currently in the studio working on a new album called Blood Moon which is a more traditional hard rock heavy metal sound, with a tentative release date of end of 2024. Current band members are: Bobby Franklin – lead vocals, Jeff Miller – guitar and backup vocals, Tyler Miller – bass and backup vocals, Brad Dilbeck – drums.
HOUNDS Hounds are a Heavy/US Power Metal band born in 2016.
Their music is mainly inspired by the great masters of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and 80s US Power Metal, including Rainbow, Judas Priest, Savatage and Virgin Steele. In 2017 They record the EP "Hounds"; in 2020 they join Punishment 18 Records' roster and finally release Their first full-length "Warrior of Sun", officially becoming part of the NWOTHM scene. Among the most importants gigs, They've shared the stage with Alltheniko, Airborn and Drakkar; on the occasion of the Metallo Villano Open Air held in Genoa They played along Necrodeath; They were invited by Sweeping Death to play in the Bavarian area; lately they've opened for White Skull in their hometown, Turin.
Their music was defined as a "
… hard and powerful Heavy
Metal, but also refined and full of melody, deriving from
the American productions which, in the 80s, wanted to
emerge by contrasting both the explosion of the NWOBHM
and the success of the impertinent and libertine Glam
Metal...
