About this Event
Dr. Shalev will speak about Israel’s destruction of Gaza’s healthcare system, providing an overall analysis of the systematic targeting of medical facilities, personnel, aid, and care. He will explain how these attacks continue to inflict death and suffering even after the announced so-called ceasefire, with lasting consequences for Gazans’ survival and recovery. He will also examine the ethical failures of the Israeli medical community, the responsibilities of the international medical community, and the urgent actions required now, including coordinated advocacy and concrete mechanisms for sustained professional and international pressure.
Dr. Said Eid will begin by describing his experience as medical student during Israel’s previous wars on Gaza before turning to offer a short portrayal of what it meant to work inside hospitals in Gaza as an intern doctor at a time when the medical system was systematically targeted.
