Medicinal Plant Walks with Medical HerbalistStarting from Cocking on the South Downs Way, we’ll walk through open hillsides and plant-filled hedgerows, a beautiful spot for learning about local herbal medicine.
Join Medical Herbalist Laura Uphill for a guided walk through the hedgerows and fields of West Sussex and discover the healing plants growing all around us. Learn how to identify, understand, and safely use local plants as medicines and foods, and gain practical knowledge you can apply at home.
On the walk we will explore up to 40 plants, covering:
* Identification and seasonal availability
* Actions, nature, and flavour of plants
* Medicinal, culinary, and cosmetic uses
* Practical preparations: teas, decoctions, tinctures, salves, syrups, compresses
* Safety, dosage, collection, drying, and storage
* Combining herbs to support common ailments
We will also discuss the benefits of seasonal foods, how to support digestion, immunity, and respiratory health, and how herbs can work alongside diet to strengthen the body and prevent deficiencies.
This hands-on, informative walk is a chance to reconnect with the natural world, gain confidence in using plants, and rediscover knowledge that has slowly been lost.
