Medical Law Reading Group - Experts and Ethics Committees in Healthcare
About this Event
How should public institutions rely on expertise when scientific knowledge is indispensable to decision-making, yet rarely provides a single or self-executing answer? Drawing on her doctoral research, Rosa Signorella will explore the role of experts and ethics committees in health governance, focusing on the space where scientific knowledge, ethical judgement and public authority intersect. Rosa is a visiting PhD researcher at the Edinburgh Law School.
The discussion will consider what happens to democratic responsibility when expert advice becomes an increasingly central part of public decision-making.
The session is open to postgraduate students, both taught and research, as well as any academic or professional interested in medical law and ethics, as well as constitutional law.
