Media, Myths and Animals
About this Event
Join us on Friday, September 4th for an engaging humane education workshop exploring the powerful role that media plays in shaping our perceptions of animals and people.
During the workshop, we’ll examine common myths, stereotypes, and portrayals of animals in movies, television, social media, news, and advertising, and discuss how these messages can influence the way we understand and treat different species. We’ll also explore how similar patterns of representation can influence our perceptions of certain demographics and groups of people, including how stereotypes and media narratives can shape attitudes toward individuals and communities.
Participants will have an opportunity to think critically about the messages they encounter every day, question assumptions, and consider how more accurate and compassionate representations can help promote understanding and empathy for both animals and people.
Participant Incentive: Each person who participates in the workshop will receive SEPTA passes and gift cards as a thank-you for joining us!
