Mecha Sonic 3

Held in a functioning metal fabrication shop in Brooklyn, Mecha Sonic Sessions is a night of unique sonic experimentation, with instruments and performances created specifically for the event and possible only in this kind of environment.


Angle grinders, Tesla coils, pneumatic tools, motorcycles, balloons, and fire whistles are some of the instruments that accompany world-class musicians, which include Oscar-winning composers and arena-scale performers. The first Mecha Sonic event, in 2019, was originally conceived as an event for artists and musicians to experiment among their friends and colleagues. The grand finale was a woman in full fire-protective gear playing a flaming accordion. A flaming harp was built for the second event, which was just one of almost 20 different acts.


The Red Hook Star Revue called Mecha Sonic 2 "a melding of jazz, powertools, and pyrotechnics in a carefully crafted series of avante garde works orchestrated with classical precision and stunning theatricality." This will be the third of an ongoing series, and the most ambitious.

Mecha Sonic 3 will feature DIY instrument virtuoso Ken Butler, MET Opera performer Sage Sovereign, Militia Vox (toured with Rob Halford), and resident incendiary brass ensemble Fire The Band, among many others. Acts and experiments on the roster include an indoor full-sensory musical storm, an all-saw ensemble, a human-powered organ, modular synth with fire, and a Tesla coil levitation magic act. It's worth noting that they have an EMT on-site.

This show will sell out, so make sure to get your tickets ahead of time.

The show starts at 8:30pm, Friday and Saturday nights. Performances will go til midnight, after which there will be DJs, along with interactive events including Flaming Simon, The Beer Circuit, and more, going til late into the night.
