About this Event
What does regeneration mean — and how does its meaning shift across cultures, traditions, and institutions?
Join us for a shared discovery session hosted by Dr Tuukka Toivonen in conversation with Yasuhiro Kobayashi a founder of Ecological Memes: A Japan-based cross-disciplinary collective of researchers and practitioners that explore emergent modes of human-nature inter-relationality.
The session takes the format of a lightly structured dialogue (with plenty of opportunities for collective discussion) to allow for novel distinctions and observations to arise.
The purpose of this discussion is to begin to identify and contrast the ways in which regeneration (and related terms such as regenerative design) is being approached within the Japanese and European contexts.
We will pay attention to the different meanings of regeneration, reasons for its adoption, how it is being linked to pre-existing cultures and economic institutions...

You are warmly invited to join us for two further events which precede this on the same day:
i) A hands-on card workshop hosted by Ecological Memes to explore practical wisdom rooted in nature and ecosystems found acress in ecology to eastern philosophy (please register here);
ii) An evening public dialogue hosted by the Becoming Regenerative Lab with Yasuhiro Kobayashi, scholar Saouri Ogura and esteemed architect Michael Pawlyn. (Tickets for this should be booked separately here).
Our events are being offered with generous support from the Climate and Ecological Transitions Research Hub (Loughborough University London).
