Meagre Offerings: Improv and Experimental SocialThe first of many to come, The Lubber Fiend is proud to present its “Meagre Offerings”. A free, social event for the avant-postured, those whom exist recoiled and hunched in their opposition to mundanity, or possibly in awe of its simplicity. Once a month, a small showcase of experimental musicians will take to the abattoir floor in an intimate candlelit setting beneath a series of carefully curated projections. The spirit of the evening walks the line between speakeasy and basement clangour, almost secret but open to all. Those that are wanting to try something new should be aware that performances will be followed by an open floor group improvisation where anyone in attendance is willing to join.
Sam Spencer & Iris Casling
Trumpet and Double Bass improvised duo where speaking/scratching strings and the whirring of overstressed metal clash in unity to create a plethora of intimate conversational movements which ebb and flow in their velocity like a bird fighting with the wind. Instruments are ragged and torn to a near broken form, a sacrifice necessary to create each and every dissonant sonic texture. Despite this, there is an absence of pressure, carelessness maybe, but seemingly carefree.
Unexplained Blood
Emanating from the corner of night (Wales), Unexplained Blood maps that country in cartographic schisms in locating its nervum, avering their finds in uncensored phonography. What they do becomes music made by Sgerbwd (Sarn electronics) and Gwilly (Wildmill voice & percutcheon). The actual music itself is the sound of their veins outside their bodies, you can’t see them being extracted, but you (‘we’) feel them tighten around your (‘our’) eyelets.
Odie Ji Ghast
Odie ji Ghast is Manchester based Lithuanian vocalist who has been a part of improvised and noise scenes in the UK for over a decade, has several solo albums and many collaborative projects. Her recent releases are with Territorial Gobbing and David Birchall, some of her notable projects are/were with Impossibility Knox and Badatmaths, and Historically Fucked. Odie ji Ghast also produces music and writes poetry.
