About this Event

Welcome to Meadowood!
Come join us for an evening filled with music, poetry, and creativity at OPERA America.
How do you grieve someone who is still living?
Playwright John Clancy creates a symbolic space and place of loneliness, fear, and possibility with his poems from Meadowood. His character, our hero, discovers a sense of self and purpose while describing the tension that results from these conflicting emotions, especially when the unresolved grief is overwhelming but not acknowledged. Because there are no rituals, no closure surrounding this kind of loss, the world is full of mental uncertainty.
Composers Whitney George, Stephanie Greig, Anna Maria Manalo, and Ann Warren set the Meadowood poems to music by exploring the cries of mourning and the vivid emotions resulting from confinement, loneliness, and duty.
Performers Seth Gilman (Baritone), Aaron Pierce (Tenor), and David Glover (Actor) bring the many feelings to life revealing the personal demons that our hero vows to vanquish while seeking a glorious reinvention. Musicians include: Stephanie Greig (Double Bass), Anna Maria Manalo (Piano), and Mary Cherney (Flute).
All are supported by Visual Projections created by Robert Morton and Dramaturgy and Doodles by Nancy Greening.
Immerse yourself in the beauty of the poetry and music as you enjoy our live performance. Don't miss out on this unforgettable experience!
