About this Event
***WEATHER UPDATE FOR TONIGHT MON. 6/12/23
We're not gonna let the weather forecast put a "damp"er on our Meadow Music '23 kickoff. We're just not.
We have the privilege and pleasure to perform tonight's opening Meadow Music concert of the '23 summer season in the historic, awe-inspiring (and most importantly, dry) Chautauqua Auditorium. Give your kids (and yourselves!) the experience of seeing our free-to-attend show surrounded by 125 years of Colorado history. Hopefully next Monday's event will be outdoors as planned but in the meantime we intend to enjoy this magical concert space tonight and hope you and your family will as well!
Come early and picnic at the covered picnic shelter adjacent to the auditorium. Or eat ahead of time. Either way, no food or beverages other than water allowed in the auditorium.
If there's no active lightning in the area, Jeff & Paige and the OSMP education staff will still be leading our regular hike to find the animal week. Hike will leave from the picnic shelter just west of the auditorium at 5:30pm and is appropriate for all ages/leg lengths. Show starts at 6pm when we return. In the event of nearby lightning and/or thunder we'll offer some backup entertainment in the Auditorium. Call will be made in the moment :)
***Seats for all! Wear PJs for a smooth transition into bedtime :)
How does it work?
This event is free to the public thanks to the City of Boulder's Open Space and Mountain Parks Department!
Meet us at 5:30pm (or 9:30am for the 7/22 show) to start a short hike that's friendly to all ages (we recommend arriving early to find a place to put your picnic blanket before the hike).
Our hike takes about 30 minutes because of all the little legs that join it, but all ages should be able to accomplish the task. Along the way we'll look for our color of the week and at the end our hike we'll sing a song to bring out our animal of the week--Coyote Bob, Ranger Paula, or The Black Bear...
After our hike we return to Chautauqua Green for a concert full of our original nature and science-based music. The concert starts around 6:00pm and ends by about 7:00 (that'll be 10am-11am for the 7/22 show). Bring a blanket to sit on, a picnic and some hiking shoes.
Register in advance for a free album download. Registration is not required to attend :)
