Meadow Flower and Pollinator Walk

Join Detroit Bird Alliance and USFWS to learn about installing a meadow while also exploring the creatures that call this habitat home.
About this Event

The walk will start and end at Circle Forest(3301 Palmer St Detroit) and walk through Callahan Park.

Cirlce Forest is a restoration project created by Arboretum Detroit and Callahan Park is the first Detroit Bird City park restored with a native grass and flower meadow in 2019. We will walk through other Arboretum Detroit sites including Oxygen Alley, and Treetroit 1.

This walk will be co-led by DBA's Ava Landgraf and Megan Houle who works for the US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) as a Partners for Fish and Wildlife Biologist. Ava and Megan will teach us all about the importance of meadow habitat, the best methods for meadow restoration, and the pollinators and other insects that need this habitat to survive.

We will have binoculars for attendees to borrow. We recommend wearing long pants and shirts due to mosquitos and other bugs. Bug spray may also be useful.

Bathroom facilities are not available.
