M**der Mystery Walking Tour: Pensacola's Most Notorious Killings
Five historic locations. Three infamous murders. One unforgettable evening in downtown Pensacola.
Step into Pensacola's dark and fascinating past as retired homicide investigator and local historian Michael Earl Simmons guides guests through the streets where some of the city's most shocking crimes unfolded.
Beginning at Bodacious at 5:00 p.m., this one-hour walking tour takes participants to several historic downtown locations connected to notorious murders, public executions, and frontier justice.
The evening begins at the corner of Main and Jefferson Streets, where Michael recounts the tragic 1882 M**der of Captain Martin Villar, a story that will come full circle at the conclusion of the tour.
Guests will then walk to Jefferson and Zarragossa Streets, the site connected to the 1920 execution of Hosea Poole, the last man legally hanged in Pensacola.
At Zarragossa and Tarragona Streets, you'll hear the dramatic story of the capture of legendary Western outlaw John Wesley Hardin, one of the most feared gunslingers of the American frontier.
The tour continues to the historic Arbona House (115 E. Zarragossa Street), where human remains were discovered decades after convicted murderer Eugene Arbona lived there in the nineteenth century.
The evening concludes back at Bodacious, where Michael shares the shocking conclusion to the Villar story: the killing of Thomas Glennon on the very doorstep of the building where guests are gathered today.
More than a collection of crime stories, this walking tour offers a unique look into Pensacola's past through the people, places, and events that shaped the city.
