About Us
The McMaster Digital Transformation Research Centre (MDTRC) is a world-class research organization bringing together experts from the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University, academia, industry, and beyond. The MDTRC conducts multidisciplinary research to better understand how the digital revolution impacts individuals, organizations, and society.
Technologies at the MDTRC
The MDTRC is situated within the field of Information Systems, with a particular focus on Neuro Information Systems (NeuroIS) —a subfield that leverages cognitive neuroscience and neurophysiological tools to gain deeper insights into users' interactions with technology. By integrating NeuroIS with traditional business research methods, we minimize the limitations of relying solely on self-reported data, providing a more comprehensive and unbiased understanding of user behaviour.
Labs at the MDTRC
We offer a variety of labs to support your research, including two usability labs for individual technology interactions, a boardroom for focus groups, and a reconfigurable lab for observing multiple participants in different environments (e.g., living room, classroom). The MDTRC also has a Mobile User-Experience Lab (MUXL)—a one-of-a-kind mobile lab that allows us to bring our full research infrastructure directly to the community, minimizing inclusion and accessibility barriers. All our labs are optimized to collect various types of data using our neurophysiological tools (such as eye-tracking, EEG, facial expression analysis, skin conductance, heartrate variability, etc.).
Note: If you’re interested in a tour but are unable to attend that event, please contact Brendan Stanley ([email protected]) to discuss an alternate option.
