About this Event
MCASD invites you to enjoy another Family ArtLAB: Monster Sculptures.
Come celebrate Fall / Halloween with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. This October’s Family ArtLAB invites you to create colorful monster sculptures inspired by the shapes in sculptor Beverly Pepper’s Severio Column on display at Westfield UTC.
In this ArtLAB edition you will create a fun mixed media monster sculpture utilizing multiple color markers, textures with Model Magic, pipe cleaners, and a bit of a sense of humor.
Have fun, be creative, and please share your finished creations by tagging @mcasandiego and @WestfieldUTC
About the Artist: Beverly Pepper (1922–2020) was a prolific American artist known for her monumental sculptures, land art, and site-specific installations. She created her art utilizing unique materials such as sheets of metal, trunks of trees, and industrial debris. Pepper achieved unique colors on her sculpture “Severio Column,” to evoke the effects of nature on decaying wood or metal.
