The lecture is (as always) hybrid, and will be in-person (0G.029, Elmwood/Geography Building) and streamed online via Zoom (members-only will be sent via email by our Hon. Sec.) and YouTube (
). Please note: this lecture will *not* be recorded onto our YouTube channel for future viewing.

Lecture Abstract: 'This lecture will outline recent results from the Navan Fort and Environs Project, which brings together large-scale remote sensing and targeted excavation to examine the complex of Nava Fort in its landscape and wider context. It will cover new discoveries from the late Bronze Age to medieval period, and outline how these change our understanding of Navan Fort, royal sites in later prehistoric Ireland and the character of ritual, kingship and belief in the first millennium AD. '
Lecturer Biography: 'Dr Patrick Gleeson is a Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at Queen's University Belfast. His research is focused on the analysis of cult landscapes, rulership and religion in the later prehistoric and medieval periods, with a research focus in Northwestern Europe.'
