About this Event

Coooeeee Biodiversificators,

I’ve been down in the trench, and I’m pleased to report Victory for the good guys. Well, here and there at least. Although overall it’s a complete disaster. Ecologically speaking that is.

Which is why BMV is hard at it in the first place. Staring down the sins of the past, looking beyond the mess that is to the glory that can be. With a saw and a pair of secateurs and a bit of that medicine we use. Lord give me strength and a walking stick.

In this same glorious vein, we’re thrilled to announce our inaugural Mollydooker Field Day, which will be on Sunday 5 May, kicking off at 9.00 am On The Dot. The site is in a secret location that we can’t tell you about, but we will anyway. It’s on Coppermine Road at McLaren Vale. Head north from the junction with Oliver & Seaview Roads, go past the turn-off to the cellar door, go past the next couple of buildings on the left, go down the hill, all the way down, down, down to The Crossing. Then drive right on through and park on the other side in the areas that I am sure will be expensively sign posted.

Please wear something. It may be a bit cold early on.

The plan is to do some creek-work this month and then to come back next month to plant an insectary. So, this time round it will be mainly removing olives, including a number of young ‘uns that will otherwise grow up to be cowboys, from creek to burn heap. [Speaking of which, did you see the size of last month’s pile!!]

It’s all part of a larger project to work with the adjacent quarry and the neighbours, Coriole, to clean up this little corner of the world where the olives are as happy as a pig in it. There’s nothing worse, so the plan is to put it all to rights.

Then, when all is said and done and the tools are loaded back into the trailer, a warm glow will descend on the assembled mass, partly on account of the exertional nature of cutting out vermin but also from within, on account of the great moral victory that you will have won simply by turning up. And on account of the barbecue, including the mustard. But the Mollydooker wine will be cool as.

So, come along to help us welcome Mollydooker on board as our newest Planting Partner – plus we’ll give a big shout out to Holly Marquis of Mollydooker, who has joined the COG. Hip hooray!

Don’t be square. See you there! You can register by punching the big button just here….

Cheers,

Geoff H
