Connect with your creative side and join us for our no-experience-required art class-all supplies included-directed by trained, local artists, who will guide you through painting a portrait of your pet, acrylic on canvas.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE – Sunday, May 25, 2025, 11:59pm
Anyone can do a Paint Your Pet Project, regardless of art experience. A professional artist walks you through color mixing and painting techniques to get your pet’s fur and features just right. There’s no guesswork and no pressure.
Paint your dog, chicken, iguana, or pig – we don’t discriminate. At the end of the event, you’ll have a frame-worthy keepsake. This event is a must for every pet lover!
STEP 1: SEND IN A PHOTO to [email protected]
ONE PET PER PAINTING, PLEASE. No exceptions.
Email a high-resolution digital photo to [email protected]. Uncropped, full-body shots with uncluttered backgrounds work best. This ensures your pet’s proportions are correct in the finished product.
STEP 2: CUSTOM CANVAS
Using your photo, a grayscale outline of your pet is printed onto a canvas. *Old photos or poor-quality photos are printed exactly as sent. Nothing can be done to fix the quality.
STEP 3: You paint the portrait, but your artist teaches you techniques including how to paint backgrounds, realistic fur, and little wet noses.

MY PITBULL IS FAMILY: My Pit Bull is Family is a 501c-3 non-profit organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota with a mission to keep families together by advancing dog-inclusive rental & insurance policies and providing essential pet retention programming. In 2019, they launched North Minneapolis Pet Resource Center to support local community. The team of volunteer advocates assist pet loving community members with supplies and resources to help keep pets and their families together – at home.
