Florida Palmetto Chapter event: NAVHDA AIMS and Rules Clinic – May 18-19, 2024
This clinic is an educational tool developed by NAVHDA to help dog owners and handlers understand the testing system. The clinics are conducted by designated NAVHDA senior judges and clinic leaders. In this clinic we will cover a variety of topics over two days, including informal classroom style instruction on the NAVHDA philosophy, test mechanics, and the scoring system for each test. Participants will also take to the field and water to judge and score dogs being run in a mock test setting. After each section the participants and the Clinic Leader will discuss the dog’s performance, where the performance would fall in the NAVDHA scoring system, and any strengths or weaknesses in training and handling. Many Clinic Leaders also include helpful tips and tricks on handling dogs in NAVHDA tests.
Who Should Attend and Why?
* People with their first dog will see how other dogs work and gain insight into what their dog is doing and why. This will help to develop their pup’s talents and improve performance.
* Novice handlers will learn how NAVHDA evaluates versatile dogs, and thus will be better prepared to handle their dogs in a test.
* Experienced handlers will gain a deeper, more technical knowledge of how the team of dog and handler are judged.
* Breeders will learn what to look for in their breeding stock and their progeny, and how to use NAVHDA records obtained through our Search Test Records service for selective breeding.
* Aspiring NAVHDA Judges are required to attend an Aims & Rules Clinic and is one of the first steps in our Apprentice Judge Program.
The Florida Palmetto Chapter will be hosting a 2-day AIMS and Rules Clinic on May 18 & 19, 2024. The classroom sessions, water work, and field work will be held at GMHT Hunt Club, 2285 Boy Scout Camp rd, Lake Wales, FL.
The cost of the two-day clinic is $150 which includes a copy of the latest edition of the NAVHDA AIMS book, as well as a Continental breakfast each morning and a lunch each day. Participants under age 18 years old we will not be charging but have to sign up in our store as the class size is limited to 20.

Payment/registration
Due to the nature of this event and the limited availability of openings, reservations will be accepted on a “first-come, first-served” basis.
Any reservation/payment received after the clinic is full will be placed on a waiting list in the order in which they were received. Openings occurring as a result of cancellations will be filled from the waiting list.

LODGING:
There is both RV and tent camping available at GMHT. To reserve go to our store to purchase camping options. There are several local motels for lodging also, we do not have a reserved motel.
DOG POLICY
Dogs used in the clinic will be obtained by the Florida Palmetto Chapter. You will not need to bring your own dog(s) with you to the clinic. If you are camping they are welcome in the camp grounds but this training is for you vs your dog.
