Riaz is currently performing the role of energy industry thought leader within KPMG Canada. He has over 25 years of operations leadership experience improving reliability and business performance across complex operating environments. His background spans Natural Gas & Renewable Power Generation, Oil & Gas Production and Utilities Systems Operations with senior operational leadership roles at Syncrude, TC Energy and ATCO EnPower, bringing a pragmatic, operator-led perspective to transformation.

He focuses on elevating energy operations, maintenance and asset performance through practical digital solutions that improve productivity, reliability and cost effectiveness.

Shesta Babar - Partner, People Change and Consulting, Western Canada Lead, KPMG

Shesta Babar is a Partner and digital transformation leader at KPMG LLP, where she leads People & Change Consulting for Western Canada. With 17 years of experience, Shesta specializes in helping organizations navigate complex transformation through a people‑first approach, spanning change management, learning & development, organizational strategy, and organizational design. Today, her work sits at the intersection of technology and people, with a strong focus on adoption that actually sticks. Shesta brings a unique global perspective to her role, having lived in eight countries over the last four decades. Outside of work, she’s happiest chasing adventures with her two young daughters.

Sundas Gul - VP Operational Risk and Chief Compliance Officer, ATB Financial

Sundas Gul is the Vice President of Operational Risk and Chief Compliance Officer at ATB Financial, where she leads second-line oversight of operational risk management and regulatory compliance. In this role, she is spearheading major enterprise transformations, including ATB’s multi-year transition from provincial regulation to OSFI’s federal regime, the modernization of its operational resilience program under OSFI E-21, and the development of an integrated assurance and testing model that unifies oversight across compliance and operational risk.Sundas brings over three years of experience at ATB Financial and more than a decade of prior experience at Lloyds Banking Group (LBG), the UK’s largest retail and digital bank. Her global experience spans operational risk, regulatory compliance, financial crime, governance, and large-scale transformation.At LBG, she played a central leadership role in building the Control Function operating model required under the UK’s Ring-Fencing legislation; a structural, enterprise-wide regulatory transformation. She helped establish Senior Manager Certification Regime (SMCR) governance, Material Risk Taker frameworks, and enhanced financial crime, fraud, and conduct risk oversight models, strengthening the bank’s end-to-end control environment. Her early frontline banking experience further anchors her approach in commercial reality and client-centric design.Sundas holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Mathematics, a Diploma in Banking Practice & Management, a Diploma in Financial Crime Prevention, and a certification in Regulatory Compliance and Legal Risk Management. A recognised thought leader in risk and compliance, she is committed to building practical, business-enabling frameworks that enhance regulatory integrity, strengthen culture, and support sustainable innovation.
