About this Event
This field trip will have two programs. Each program will be 30 minutes long. Students and Chaperones will have an opportunity to attend both programs.
The rocks and geology presentations examine sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks. It discusses rock specimens and minerals in the context of local area geological events. Plenty of hands-on in these programs!
The reptiles program features the lizards, snakes, and tortoises of the Upper Mojave Desert. The presentation includes identification and prepared local species, their characteristics, adaptations, and habitats. Poisonous and species protected by the U.S. government are also discussed. If available, live specimens are included in the program.

We encourage you to submit a work sample highlighting what your student learned from this field trip during your next learning period. It helps to ensure that we can continue to provide these opportunities.
Heartland field trips are designed for families to attend together. Students need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If your student will be attending with another family, please let the field trip host know once you complete your registration.

Refunds will not be given for any reason. As a courtesy, if you are sick or unable to attend a field trip, please get in touch with the teacher, who planned the event to let them know so they do not wait at the venue for you.* Families who are no-shows may lose access to future field trips.*
May I pay using my student's planning amount? Yes! You can pay for your student's ticket and one chaperone ticket with your student's planning amount. There are two steps to purchasing tickets for field trips with your student's planning amount.
Step 1. Reserve your ticket on Eventbrite. Please select the "Student ticket ordered through Procurify" and or "Chaperone ticket ordered through Procurify" ticket options in Eventbrite. Complete the checkout process on Eventbrite. You will receive an email confirmation from Eventbrite once your order is complete. This is the first step in reserving your tickets. Immediately after you receive confirmation from Eventbrite, three you will move to step 2.
Step 2. Place an order for your tickets in Procurify. Search the name of this field trip in the Procurify catalog and complete your order just like you would for any other order. Your spot on this field trip will not be confirmed until you have placed your order in Procurify. Failure to place an order in Procurify within three days will result in being removed from the attendee list and having your funds manually deducted.
Does this trip have any height, weight, or, age restrictions? All ages are welcome, but the presentations will be aimed at students in K-6th grade. Each person who attends a field trip or event must be registered through Eventbrite. Individuals who have not registered will be asked to leave.
What are the check-in procedures? Check-in with the Teacher at the front entrance at 9:50 am.
Is there on-site parking available? Parking is free and located next to the museum.
Can we pack snacks or lunch for this event or field trip? No food or drinks are allowed inside the museum. There is an outdoor sitting area for those who wish to eat or drink.
